This morning, I got this error telling me that I have reached the file limit? I only have 2k items in the board and this is an enterprise account. I was under the impression the only limit is with the number of items.

At the moment there is a limit of 20,000 files per board on the account.
This is a platform limitation and unfortunately at this time cannot be increased.
If you do need to have access to more files on this board I would recommend adding in The Link Column, storing your files on a third party such as Dropbox or Google Drive, and then pasting the URL in this column.
I know this is not ideal, but I hope it might work as a workaround for you for now!

We recently built an app to solve this exact issue. It’s called Storage Saver, and it helps free up storage by offloading board files to Google Drive. You can set it to run automatically or on a schedule. Once files are offloaded, links to them are added directly to the corresponding items, so nothing gets lost.
